How to Format / Hard Reset HTC One V
The HTC One V can be formatted in two different ways. You can do it via Phone Settings. Another way is of hard resetting the phone can be done with hardware buttons. Formatting or Hard Resetting or Factory Setting is a great tool to solve many problems.
Sometimes, wrong operations, virus and other harmful apps make the phone sluggish and unresponsive. Installing and uninstalling a lot of apps also can make the phone slower. Many changes saved by day to day operation kills the speed. If you format or hard reset the phone then it will become fast and responsive again.
Formatting erased everything from the phone memory. It sweeps away all the junks. Even virus will also be deleted. After that, the system reinstalls the fresh Android system with all the preinstalled apps. The Android system is inside the phone on a ROM chip which can be corrupted by any virus. It would be better to format your phone in such cases.
Preparations Before Formatting
Formatting will destroy all data from the phone memory. If you have saved photos or videos on phone’s internal memory, then be prepared to back those things up somewhere. All the contacts and messages will also be deleted. If you have any custom ROM installed, it will also be uninstalled. Above all, the apps and games will be erased too.
You can backup everything using apps like “Titanium Backup” or “MyBackup”. There are cloud backup options too. The apps, contacts, calendars, emails and settings can be synced with Google. If you use the Google + app then you can also save the photos using the “Instant Upload” feature. There are also special apps for backing up your installed apps.

So, is it not pretty simple? Go for it and you will get many issues on your HTC One V solved. There is almost no risk of your phone damage. I used the word "almost" because it is impossible to tell when a modern digital device will just stop working. It is a very complex thing.
